Bespoke Projects
Here are some examples of previous bespoke projects...
Raspberry shed with added bats and crows
This potting shed has been given one hell of a new lease on life! Its stunning makeover was achieved with ‘Raspberry Sorbet’ garden shades by Cuprinol. A nod to the gothic was added via some black silhouettes of crows and bats that can be seen scattered around the shed.
My client was exceptionally happy with the outcome.
Octopus Mural
My customer’s brief was for an octopus to be painted in her bathroom that matched the colours of her new tiles and stood out against the grey walls. I painted this mural across 3 walls and the ceiling in order to create the feeling of it swimming away and to give it a 3D effect. Its tentacles were positioned so that they would curl around the towel rack, chest of drawers and mirror that were all added later to complete the room.
Tardis Mural – Dr Who
The brief was to paint a mural of the Dr Who Tardis exploding, in the style of Van Gogh. This is based on one of my client’s favourite episodes of the show. I think it turned out beautifully and it transformed what was once a boring ‘through’ dining room into a destination of its own.
Furniture Upcycling
I refurbished this plain varnished oak bedroom furniture and gave it a new lease of life. First, I completely stripped all of the old varnish from the top surfaces, taking them back to bare wood. Then the body of each piece of furniture was sanded and given three coats of dark navy-blue paint so that they matched the blue velvet bed base and headboard. I then gave all of the furniture two coats of clear satin varnish to provide durability and a further two coats of clear matt varnish in order to achieve the requested final matt finish. I think the resulting look is a stunning upgrade!
Rocking Horse Renovation
This dappled grey rocking horse was refurbished for an elderly customer who wanted to restore it to its former glory for her grandchildren. It had been in her family for over 100 years and was delapidated.
I thoroughly enjoyed this project and took great satisfaction in sanding the horse down, filling its dents and holes and repairing one of its ears that had been chipped off. I then painted it with waterbased acrylic and protected it with a clear waterbased varnish. I used waterbased instead of oil based varnish, in order to prevent it from yellowing over time. Hopefully this lovely fella will now be enjoyed by his family for another 100 years!
